Syllabus for SBI PO Exam.

Syllabus Details For SBI PO : Full Syllabus details of SBI PO Examination for appointment as Probationary Officers (PO) in State Bank of India. The Syllabus details is given below.

The recruitment process will be held in three phases.

  • Phase-I Preliminary Examination
  • Phase-II Main Examination
  • Group Exercise & Interview

Phase-I Preliminary Examination:

  • Preliminary Exam is Qualifying in nature
  • Each test will have a separate timing as mentioned above.
  • 1/4th of mark assigned for question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • The Exam Duration is 1 Hour
  • The exam will consist of objective type, multiple-choice questions only.

English Language

Basic English Grammar, Paragraph completion, Sentence Completion, Reading comprehension, Vocabulary, Error Spotting, Cloze test, Spell Checks, Miscellaneous, Sentence correction, Phrases and Idioms, Para jumbles, Fill in the blanks, Phrases, etc.

Quantitative Aptitude

Approximation, Simplification, Number Series, Pipes and cisterns, Quadratic Equations, Time and work, Probability, Series, Average, Profit and loss, Percentage, Time, Speed and Distance, Simple Interest,  Compound Interest, Ratio and proportion, Mensuration, Partnership, Number Systems, Allegation of mixture, Boats and Streams, Problems on train and age, Permutations and Combinations, Data sufficiency, Pie chart, Pipes and Cisterns, Data Interpretation, etc.

Reasoning Ability

Coding Decoding, Data Sufficiency, Syllogism, Order and ranking, puzzles, Statement and Assumption, Input Output, Statement and Argument, Course of Action, Decision Making, Inequalities, Seating arrangements, Blood relation, Alphanumeric series, Classification, Directions and Distance, Critical Reasoning, Scheduling, etc.

Phase-II Main Examination:

Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer the Descriptive Test by typing on the computer. The Descriptive Test will be administered immediately after completion of the Objective Test.

Reasoning : Coding Decoding, Data Sufficiency, Syllogism, Order and ranking, puzzles, Statement and Assumption, Input Output, Statement and Argument, Course of Action, Decision Making, Inequalities, Seating arrangements, Blood relation, Alphanumeric series, Classification, Directions and Distance, Critical Reasoning, Scheduling, etc.

Computer Aptitude: Basic Knowledge of Computer i.e. Operating System, Internet, Computer Software, Computer Hardware, Memory, Networking, Working knowledge of MS Office, Basic of Logic Gates, Computer Abbreviation, Key Shortcuts etc.

Data Analysis & Interpretation

Probability, Permutations and Combinations, Data sufficiency, Data Interpretation, Pie chart, Tabular Graph, Line Graph, etc.

English Language

Basic English Grammar, Paragraph completion, Sentence Completion, Reading comprehension, Vocabulary, Error Spotting, Cloze test, Spell Checks, Miscellaneous, Sentence correction, Phrases and Idioms, Para jumbles, Fill in the blanks, Phrases, etc.

General / Economy / Banking Awareness

Banking And Financial Awareness, Current Affairs, General Knowledge, Static General Knowledge etc.

(II) Descriptive Test

  • Descriptive Test Scoring in Nature.
  • The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with two questions for 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay).

Phase III Group Exercise (20 Marks) & Interview (30 Marks):

  • There is no sectional cut-off
Important Points:
  1. Candidates are selected for mains examination will be 10 times the numbers of vacancies (approx.) in each category.
  2. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for preparing the final merit list for selection. Only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test will be added to the marks obtained in GE & Interview (Phase-III) for preparing the final merit list. The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately.
  3. Selection criteria for Group Exercise and Interview: Category wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Main Examination. There will be no sectional cut-off. Candidates numbering up to 3 times (approx.) of the category wise vacancies will be shortlisted for the Group Exercise & Interview from the top of the category wise merit list subject to a candidate scoring the minimum aggregate qualifying score.
