SSC CHSL Exam Syllabus 2023

Syllabus Details For SSC CHSL: Full Syllabus details of SSC CHSL Examination 2023 for the posts of Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA), Sorting Assistant (SA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO). Candidates preparing for SSC CHSL exam 2023 should know full course details syllabus here. Subject wise detailed SSC CHSL syllabus is provided below

The exam will be in three stages :

  • Computer Based Examination (Tier-I)
  • Descriptive Paper (Tier-II)
  • Skill Test / Typing Test (Tier-III)

Computer Based Examination (Tier-I) :

  • There will be negative marking of 1/4 of each Correct Answer. The exam is scoring in nature.

Quantitative Aptitude:

Number System, Time and Work, Time And Distance, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Partnership, Average, Mixture and Allegation , Ratio and Proportion, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Statistics.

General Intelligence:

Number Series, Symbolic/ Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/ Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/ pattern folding & unfolding, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern-folding and completion, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding, Semantic Analogy, Trends, Symbolic operations, Semantic Classification.

English Language:

Fill in the Blanks, Error Spotting, Synonyms , Antonyms , Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Sentence Improvement , Active/ Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/ Indirect narration, Spellings/ Detecting miss-spelt words, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage.

General Awareness:

History, Polity, Geography, Economics, Static General Knowledge, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Environment, Science Research And Current Events.

Descriptive Paper (Tier-II) :

  • The exam is scoring in nature.
  • Tier-II Paper will be Descriptive in nature ( ‘Pen and Paper’ mode) with 100 marks in which The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent.
  • The Paper will comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and a Letter/ Application of approximately 150-200 words. The candidate will have written either in Hindi or in English language.

Typing Test / Skill Test (Tier-III) :

  • Typing Test / Skill Test  will be of qualifying nature.

Skill Test for Data Entry Operator

  • Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer. The duration of the Test will be 15 minutes.
  • For the post of Data Entry Operator Grade “A” in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG): The ‘speed of 15000 key depressions per hour on Computer. The duration of the Test will be 15 minutes.

Typing Test for LDC/ JSA and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant:

  • The medium of Typing Test will be Hindi or English.
  • Candidates opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.) and those opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.).
  • The duration of test will be 10 minutes.

Important Points:

  1. Candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification and Tier-III Examination based on their performance in Tier-I + Tier-II subject to having scored a minimum of 33% marks in Tier-II Examination. Tier-III Examination is qualifying in nature.
  2. There will be separate category wise cut-offs in Tier-I and subsequent Tiers for different posts i.e. (i) DEO, (ii) DEO Grade ‘A’ and (iii) LDC/ JSA and PA/ SA.
  3. Final selection and allocation of Ministries/ Departments/ Offices to the candidates qualified in DV and Tier-III would based on the performance of candidates in the Tier-I + Tier-II Examinations and the preference of Posts/ Departments confirmed by them at the time of Document Verification.
